On June 11th, Singing OUT! presents its annual Pride concert. Toronto's fabulous 25th edition of Pride starts on June 20th and what better way to get in the spirit than with Singing OUT!'s Pride concert Make Them Hear You! In this climate of growing conservatism and political scare tactics, we have chosen music for this concert that inspires us to hold our heads even higher, to laugh, to love one another even in the face of fear and hatred, and to shout our message of love and respect for all to hear!
Singing OUT! attended the largest queer choral event in the world - GALA 2004 in Montreal - AND we returned with some of our personal favourites to sing for you. Celebrate of our LGBTQ identity with songs like “Big Butch Woman”, “Material Madrigal”, and “Chandler Street” ... feel our resilient spirit in “Breaths” and “Even When God is Silent” ... share our united call to action in “I Ain’t Afraid" and “Make Them Hear You” ... let “The Fundamental” lead you on an extensive tour of the meaning of irony ...wow ... you are in for a very memorable concert to kick off your June 2005 Pride experience!
Come ... celebrate with us, feel empowered with us ...and ... Make Them Hear You!
We promote pride, both in who we are and in musical excellence to the communities where we live, perform, and find mutual support.
Within the choir, we shall foster a positive image of our common goals of belonging, unity, and empowerment: a reflection of our lives.
